11 Ways We Helped Our Community Through Our 2014 Cares Program

Throughout the year, between the countless calls, emails and meetings to match health IT consultants to clients, we like to give back to our community through our Cares Program.

Similar to Salesforce.com’s 1/1/1 philanthropic model, Run Consultants and its parent company established the Cares Program to promote the humanity of employees, foster teamwork and help community members live better, healthier lives through volunteerism and charitable giving. The charities we support are mostly local to the Atlanta area and lean toward causes that focus on children, education or health and human services.

Here’s how our Cares Program works:

  • The Cares Committee, made up of non-executive employees, selects charitable causes and at least one major volunteer activity/outing per quarter.
  • The company offers up to four hours PTO per quarter for personal volunteer endeavors.
  • Select charities – chosen by employees annually – receive an annual 1% net income donation.

Here’s a look back at what we did during 2014:

Feb. 3: Donated dozens of adults’ and children’s coats to the North Fulton Community Charities

March 27: Donated 25 backpacks of food to hungry children in the Hall County area through Backpack Love

Dec. 6 and 13: Donated Christmas trees to dozens of families in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Charlotte, Athens and Atlanta for Christmas Tree Santas

Dec. 11: Donated and delivered three bikes, gifts and gift cards to a struggling Atlanta family of five through Catholic Charities Atlanta

And year round, Healthcare IT Leaders donated 1% of its net income to two charities selected by HIT Leaders employees – The Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Association.
